I have this informal rule that I tell myself to prevent said self from doing things one would regret or saying things one wishes one hasn't or creating problems one will have to fix the following day. The basic rule is that one is not responsible for saying things after 8 pm...one should not make important decisions after 8 pm... and one should not attempt to have serious discussions after 8 pm because one is quite tired after 8 pm as a general rule. I have followed said rule for approximately 6 years now and it keeps self more on track. Said rule has now become a joke with family and friends about my 8 pm cut off. Sometimes others like to follow said rule as well (this I do not mind). Yesterday was the perfect example of how I need to keep said rule in effect as I apparently cannot hear correctly after 8 pm either.
Let me present my case.
So I was hanging with myself yesterday evening with lil bro gone to hang with eric and Jonell off to see the latest in RVC babies. After a little laundry, housecleaning, etc, I flipped over to Cesar Milan, Dog Whisperer extraordinaire. He's quite the guru in dog behaviorism. Jonell eventually returned to watch the remainder of the show with me. So it was approximately 10:30 or so when the show was promoting the following segment. I thought they said Cesar was going to work with a foo-dah-grauw dog. I said to Jonell, "What kindda dog is a foo-dah-grauw?" thinking this must be some interesting breed of dogs. Turns out, it was a segment on a dog with food aggression issues. My bad! Clearly, the hearing is not functioning after 8 pm....But don't you think foo-dah-grauw would be a cool name for a breed?

Solve this equation...
If "x" = Lance and X cannot wear jeans to school, then what does...
x + jeans + large can of tomato sauce on Friday morning = ?
My guess...was....Lance are you taking a can of tomato sauce to donate to the food pantry so you can wear jeans today?
He was quite impressed I figured it out! Usually he can take $2 to pay the seniors to wear jeans on senior sponsored jean days.

Feeling Appreciated...
Well, as many of you know, I work a pretty interesting, stressful, and sometimes consuming job. Today was Staff Appreciation Day at CFRC so no phones were on, no clients to meet with, and we were treated to a FREE movie, popcorn, and drink at 9 am. Who gets to watch a movie at 9 am with popcorn on a Friday? Apparently, we do! Thanks to the big boss for paying us to watch a movie and reminding us what a difference we make in our community. In 2006, CFRC serviced over 11, 000 people. In 2007, we serviced over 16,000! Wow! What alot of opportunities in Lafayette! So my purpose in posting today is not just to remind all of you that the Lord appreciates your selfless service to people in your respective fields (although that would be worthy in itself), but to say that the movie Nim's Island is a pretty decent family film. I was entertained and enjoyed that it promoted a positive father/daughter relationship, had no "hanky-panky", and showed some cool animals.
FYI...as a part of Child Abuse Prevention month, Wabash 9 on the Levee is going to show B movie (is it B movie or Bee movie?) free next Saturday at 10 & 11 am. Anybody want to go? (Maybe I should check my calendar before commiting myself to go =)

Eagle Creek
While waiting for our friends in Indy, we decided to explore Eagle Creek Park maintained by Indianapolis Parks Organization. Cost was only $5 for a car! We enjoyed it so much that we decided we have to go back this summer. The geese were out and very friendly. They actually walk toward you and not away. Clearly, they must be the city breed of geese.
We went over to a lake and I queried about what lake it was to which a stranger replied, "It's a reservoir." Who knew that Indy had a reservoir! Eric noted there was an "armada" of ducks in the water. (I think he's been watching too much history channel with war recaps)
Then we discovered a red-tail hawk on display. We finally found the Discovery Center which was free and super informative. Filled with animals and information, you can walk through it at leisure.
I liked the turtles and bullfrog tanks. Eric and Lance liked the snakes. (I'm not picturing those on the blog so it will remain friendly to all non-snakes lovers)
Wright Road Trip to Indy
Lance's friend is enrolling for college in Indianapolis and we went down to visit him during his orientation day. Of course, we had to stop at the Flyin J truck stop (refer to the Audio A song Flicker for a snappy tune about Flyin J's).

All Quiet on the Rockin Refuge Front...
Lance and I have been enjoying sleeping in the last 3 days as he's been on spring break. The world really is a bit brighter after an extra hour of snoozing. Not a lot of exciting news over here. Lance is "cleaning" his room and I've got laundry in the machine before heading back out to work tonight. We're even lacking the "Nell" entertainment around here as the roommie is gone to a Women's Conference for several days. (Hope you're having a great time roommie!). I can thankfully report that the neighborhood is still the quietest around. Not even a neighbor putting up a garage door to watch. Today though, I do hear the hammers next door as it appears they are finally beginning work on the house that flooded. (Which means, it may be back on the market soon for anyone looking to live in one of the best places....next door to us!) Well...back to my peace and quiet....ahhhhh....

La, la, la, laaaa, laaaa, la,la, laa, la, laaaa, laa, la,la...
Sometimes I wonder what makes some people like things that others really dislike greatly....? Case in point, I happen to love the new Apple commercial featuring a French little ditty with plenty of La, La's to go around. I thought to myself, "Self, this is great advertising with words discussing a old soul in a strange world and a catchy tune on the side to sliding a laptop out of an envelope. Nice!" Thoroughly enjoying the commercial, I feel compelled to "Shhhhh" others in the room just for 30 seconds of la, la listening pleasure. So much do I enjoy it that I turn up the volume just to here the la, la's more clearly (and this says alot as I am typically a mute all commercials type gal). But aye, here's the rub! Apparently the roommate greatly dislikes the commercial to the extent that her life would be much more pleasant never hearing said "la,la's" again. Hmmmm....greatly puzzling to me as the roommie and I enjoy many of the same things. So here's my query (before I head off tonight to deal with the important issues in life like how to get kids back with their parents).....do you enjoy the la, la's on the tube too?
Even if you don't, I'll still love you with all your quirks!
p.s. Now that I typed the blog....I can't get the la,la's out of my head.....
